Harvest Festival 2012

Date: October 5, 2012 Author: Admin Categories: News

Today children in Year 4 lead a wonderful assembly to celebrate Harvest. They said ‘Thank You’ through drama, poetry, story and song for God’s goodness to us. We learnt about the work of charities that work to bring clean water to tiny villages in the hills of Nepal – a country special to us as our partner school is in the hill country east of Kathmandu.

Thanks to the generosity of families we were able to bless families in the bungalows near our school with Harvest hampers. Fresh produce donated by families was given to the residents in our neighbouring Care Home. We were also able to make a large donation to the Hinkcley branch of the Salvation Army to boost the supplies in the Hinckley Food Bank.

Families of children in Year 4 had also donated items to fill an Aquabox – a humanitarian effort to help those caught in disaster zones. Alan Jones collected the box on behalf of the Ambion branch of Rotary. The boxes we filled last year went to Uganda to help very needy people.
