Road Safety

As an Eco School, we are keen to encourage sustainable travel and wholly encourage children wishing to come to school on scooters, or by foot. We are keen to promote healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyles and to reduce the dangers of traffic congestion at the start and end of the school day.

We aim to support parents who wish their children to scoot to school whilst making clear that the journey to school is the parents’ responsibility. Children are given the opportunity to take part in a scooter proficiency test comprised of a theory and practical activity, to help educate them on the safe use of their scooter.

On successful completion of the test, permission to scoot to school will given once pupils and parents/guardians have read, understood and agreed to the ‘Scoot to School’ contract. Once the completed contract is returned to school, children will be awarded their scooter licence, which should be displayed on their scooters when parked at the scooter park.

Any children interested in obtaining their scooter licence should speak to Mr Pryor(Eco Co-Ordinator).

Please watch the short scooter safety video below that was made by Mr Pryor with the help of the Junior Road Safety Officers and some of the Eco Warriors.
