IMG_0614Today we went to visit an Elementary School in Brooklyn – across the river from New York City. This was our final school.

The school catered for 800 students from 4 years – 10 years old. It is a dual language school where children are taught in English and Spanish. The school shares space in a building with a Charter School.

This school has a strong focus on developing Reading and Writing and every room had lots of children’s writing displayed. In a typical day the students have three periods of English, two of maths and either social studies or science.

Parents are heavily involved in school; many are volunteers and work in school and raise a lot of funds. Standards at this school are good it is popular and over subscribed. The Headteacher is passionate about every teacher continuing to develop their skills so that all children can do their very best.
