Back to the 90’s: The DSAT Dance Off!

Date: January 25, 2016 Author: Year6 Categories: Year 6

During the Autumn Term, Year 6 studied dance in their PE lessons working towards the DSAT Dance Off competition. We went back in time to an era when pop music was celebrated and everyone busted some amazing moves! Over the term, we learnt routines to different 90s classics and combined these to make our mash up performance. Everyone had to demonstrate great determination to learn the moves because the final routine was extremely complicated!

Once we had learnt the routine, children had the opportunity to audition for the final dance squad. This took real courage and bravery because it involved performing in small groups in front of our very own judges and other members of the year group.

The final 12 children then travelled to Kibworth Grammar School Hall with Miss Heap and Mrs Wightman to show their dance to the other DSAT schools. They gave a fantastic performance and worked really well to choreograph alongside children from across the DSAT schools. Throughout the afternoon they were a real credit to our school showing brilliant teamwork and sportsmanship!
